The BARR/CHANNEL-OUT utility (CHANOCFG) and BARR/CHANNEL-OUT adapters let you channel-attach peripheral devices such as printers, computer output microfiche Microfiche that contains data recorded by computer. devices, and communications controllers Devices used as intermediaries in transferring communications to and from the host computers to which they are connected. to a computer using Bus & Tag cables Cables used to connect devices to mainframe channels. The bus cable transmits data and the tag cable controls information on the bus. You can then use programs to drive those devices.
Use the BARR/CHANNEL-OUT utility to install the device driver in the Windows registry and configure the CHANNEL-OUT device driver. You can also use this utility to determine the device addresses Numbers that uniquely identify devices. of your channel devices after you connect them to the BARR/CHANNEL-OUT adapter.
The Configuration
tab in BARR/CHANNEL-OUT utility is not available for Windows 2000
or Windows XP users. Windows 2000 and Windows XP provides this functionality
through the Properties tab of
the adapter Properties dialog
box in Device
Manager. In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Barr adapters, right-click the adapter,
and select Properties.
