The hardware you use to perform diagnostics is based on your connection type.
The following hardware is included in the CHANNEL-IN (BT) package.
The CAB terminator plugs and test plugs come in the Diagnostic Tools bag. The bag also contains instructions for installing the plugs on the CAB. Follow these steps to install the CAB terminator plugs and test plugs.
Insert the Bus Loopback and Tag Loopback plugs into the Bus In and Tag In plug receptacles.
Insert the Bus Terminator and Tag Terminator plugs into the Bus Out and Tag Out plug receptacles.

The adapter test plug arrives strapped to the cable that connects the adapter and the CAB. The test plug is embossed TEST.
The following hardware is included in the CHANNEL-IN (ES) package.
The adapter loop plug connects directly to the adapter for testing the adapter. The adapter loop plug is also used to test the fiber-optic connection to the mainframe.
The ESCON coupler is used to connect two fiber-optic cables together. You can also use the coupler with the adapter loop plug to test the fiber-optic cable.
The following hardware is included in the CHANNEL INTELLIGENCE package.
The CHANNEL INTELLIGENCE cable terminator plugs and test plugs arrive in the Diagnostic Tools bag. The bag also contains instructions for installing the plugs on the CHANNEL INTELLIGENCE cable.
