Opening Windows utilities

Several Windows utilities are used to configure and manage the BARR/CHANNEL-OUT. The method of displaying the utility varies based on your operating system.

Opening the devices utility

The devices utility starts and stops device drivers. Use one of the following methods to open the devices utility.

Windows 2000

From the Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties. From the System Properties dialog box, select the Hardware tab and click Device Manager. If you need additional instructions, refer to your Microsoft Help.

Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

From the taskbar, click Start | Control Panel | System. They System Properties dialog box displays. On the Hardware tab click Device Manager. If you need additional instructions, refer to your Microsoft Help.

Windows 2000

From the taskbar, click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services.

Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

From the taskbar, click Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services.

Opening Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer displays the hierarchical structure of files, folders, and drives on your computer. You can use Windows Explorer for tasks such as copying, moving, and deleting files. Use one of the following methods to open the Windows Explorer utility.

Windows 2000

From the taskbar, click Start | Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer.

Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

From the taskbar, click Start | All Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer.

Opening the Event Viewer

The Event Viewer maintains logs about programs, security, and systems events on your computer. With Event Viewer, you can troubleshoot various hardware and software problems. Use one of the following methods to open the Windows Event Viewer.

Windows 2000

From the taskbar, click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Event Viewer.

Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

From the taskbar, click Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Event Viewer.

The Add or Remove Programs utility adds and removes software on your computer. Use one of the following methods to open the Windows Add or Remove Programs utility.
