Using Internet e-mail

You can send messages and files to Barr Systems on the Internet. Internet e-mail is the least expensive way to communicate electronically with Barr Systems.

Check with your network administrator to determine if your e-mail system supports outgoing file attachments. Even if your internal e-mail system supports sending file attachments, your network gateway or Internet provider might not.

In your message, specify that you need technical support. If you send diagnostic files, include a brief description of the problem you recreated to capture the diagnostics.

Using the Barr FTP server

You can use the Barr FTP server to exchange files with Barr Systems. For example, you can receive software updates or send diagnostics.

The following steps describe how to upload files to the Barr FTP server. For more information, see the Support Agreement booklet that came with your BARR/SYNC for Microsoft Networks package. Contact Barr technical support for more information.

  1. Connect to the Barr FTP server.

  2. Specify anonymous as your user name.

  3. Use your e-mail address as your password.

  4. When you send or receive files, be sure to set the transfer mode to binary.
