Complete the following steps to create a printer to route from BARR/SPOOL to another BARR/SPOOL. The steps vary depending on your operating system. You must configure a printer to use the LPR port on the sending Barr computer and you must configure LPD on the receiving Barr computer.
To add a Windows printer, you must be a member of the Administrators group. If you are using Windows 2000, you can also be a member of the Printer Operators or Server Operators group or a Power User on a workstation.
Complete the following steps to add a spool printer for routing to another BARR/SPOOL. The options you specify for a spool printer affect all documents you send to it.
Open the Configuration Utility.
From the Spool Printers tab, click Add. The Printer Properties dialog box displays.
In the Name box, enter a printer name. The printer name cannot contain a backslash '\'. This name displays in the Spool Window’s printer list and is called the spool printer.
Under Physical printer, select New. From the drop-down list, select Route to another BARR/SPOOL and click OK. A message box will display when the printer has been successfully created.

From the Content tab, select User defined (-Ox) and type Barr in the box. The file type you choose must match the file type you select when you configure the LPD print queue. You can select a different file type, as long as it matches in both LPR and LPD configurations.
From the Advanced tab, configure the advanced options if necessary. You can select to restrict the local port number to the 512-1024 range. You can also select to test the connection before processing data.
When you finish configuring the port, click OK. This adds the printer and returns you to the Printer Properties dialog box so you can configure the spool printer.

If you are using the default LPD queue, this will work automatically. If you are not using the default LPD queue, complete the following steps to configure BARR/PRINT TCP/IP to receive files from another BARR/SPOOL.
Open the BARR/PRINT TCP/IP Configuration utility.
From the LPD tab, click Add | Queue. The Queue Name dialog box displays.
Specify the queue Name and click OK. The File Properties dialog box displays with the <Default> LPR control file command selected. By default, each queue contains a <Default> command and it must be configured before adding any additional commands. This command can be modified, but not removed.
Select x -- Extended LPR command from the drop-down list and enter Barr in the Type box. The command you choose must match the command you selected when you configured the BARR/LPR port. You can select a different command, as long as it matches in both LPR and LPD configurations.
Click OK. The Input Conversion Utility displays.
On the Format tab, select the Barr archive file type and click OK.
All necessary overlays and FCB resources must be available on the receiving BARR/SPOOL.
Click OK to close the utility.
