This version of the Barr Enterprise Print Server includes many enhancements to features in existing components and the addition of new features. We’ve also made significant improvements to several areas of the interface that will make the software easier to use and understand. For your convenience, we've assembled this list of new and enhanced features along with links to Help topics that can provide more information about how you might apply them to your work.
Review the following new and enhanced features of the Barr Enterprise Print Server. The system requirements have been updated to accommodate some of these new features.
BARR/TOOLS now provides default font mapping. Common Xerox fonts are mapped to standard PDF fonts. This reduces the PDF file size and increases performance.
For BARR/TOOLS and BARR/TRANSFORM, some of the defaults contained in the Default.INI file have been updated. Refer to the Working with the INI file topic to view the updated default values.
You can now convert data sets from postscript to PDF before sending them to BARR/TRANSFORM.
The JSL and JDE options have been removed from the Transform Configuration dialog box. The values for the JSL and JDE can now be set by header fields, rather than creating additional INI files. See the Working with the INI file topic for more information.
The Pass data to printer without conversion option on the Advanced Printer Options dialog box is no longer used with Barr ports. If used with a Barr port, the option will be ignored. The option is only required for true Windows printers or printers using non-Barr ports.
On the BARR/FTP General tab, the default Host type is now Standard.
