The Barr File port now routes documents to the \\Barr Files folder by default. This folder is specified on the File Options tab.
The Barr File port File Options tab now supports beginning and ending file name specification, including multiple field support. Default file extensions are assigned to output files based on the output conversion chosen; however, you can now override the file name and assign extensions. Support has also been added for numeric counters in the file name and the extension. If a file exists with the same name as the file being written, BARR/SPOOL will reschedule the job to write the file when it no longer detects the duplicate file name.
The Barr File port and the Barr IP port now allow you to enable or disable VBM block length. This option is available on the File Format tab when the VBM file format is selected.
Barr File port now supports code pages. Code pages are specified on the Advanced Printer Options dialog box. The same code page will be applied to all data sets and banners because the code page is specified by printer and not set by data set or banner page. When writing to disk, the default code page is 437 -- MS DOS United States.
The Diagnostics Utility has been redesigned for usability purposes. The functionality remains the same, only the interface has been updated.
Documents can now be reprinted from the Spool Window.
SYSIN jobs and jobs using the Barr File port do not support range reprinting. If you need to reprint, you must reprint the entire job.
The BARR Network Job Entry service has been renamed the BARR NJE service.
The Format tab topic now contains a table showing which input formats can use the Headers from data, Output statement, Spur carriage control, and Code pages options.
BARR/PRINT TCP/IP now supports output statements for the following file types: Standard ASCII, ASCII with ASA carriage controls, ASCII with 1F processing, Barr DOS with headers (ASCII or S/370), Binary (raw), and Binary (raw) Wrap in NJE format.
The Make FCB utility now contains a View menu, so you can show and hide the toolbar.
The Stop and Go buttons on the Spool Window toolbar now control printers, in addition to documents.
The following access rights have been added to the User Rights Configuration utility: Configure - RJE, RJE Console, RJE Connection Manager, Document - Modify Priority, Document - Confirmation Dialog, and Printer - Show All.
Specific behavior is addressed for using the NDHBSFCB (send 3211 FCB) header field with the Barr File port.
The ESCON definition for BARR/PRINT CHANNEL has been corrected. TYPE=BL was changed to TYPE=CNC, and the reference to PROTOCOL=D was deleted.
