Complete the following steps to write to a TCP/IP socket. The options you specify for a spool printer affect all documents you send to it.
When printing to an IP port, there is no way for the destination
device to know whether it has received a complete file. Unless it receives
a partial record, the destination device might not detect an error in
transmission.
To add a Windows printer, you must be a member of the Administrators
group. If you are using Windows 2000, you can also be a member of the
Printer Operators or
Server Operators group or a Power
User on a workstation.
Open the Configuration Utility.
From the Spool Printers tab, click Add. The Printer Properties dialog box displays.
In the Name box, enter a printer name. The printer name cannot contain a backslash '\'. This name displays in the Spool Window’s printer list and is called the spool printer.
Under Physical printer, select New. If you are writing to a TCP/IP socket, select Write to an IP socket from the drop-down list. If you are printing to a Xerox EPS, select Print to a Xerox EPS from the drop-down list.
Click OK. A message box will display when the printer has been successfully created.
Before using the printer, you must configure the port. Click Modify Port to display the IP Port Configuration tab pages.
Select the IP Configuration tab and specify an IP address Short for Internet Protocol address. A 32-bit (4-byte) binary number that uniquely identifies a host (computer) connected to the Internet to other Internet hosts. and port number A number that enables IP packets to be sent to a particular process on a computer connected to the Internet. to write the file to. The port address is 9100 by default.
Select the File Format tab and specify how to format the file. Typically, you will use the ASCII format. However, if you are writing to M.I.S. Print, you can also use the S/370 format.
When sending LCDS or Metacode A Xerox-generated data stream that provides all-points addressability on Xerox centralized printers. data to a Xerox DocuPrint EPS, select the Xerox File Transfer (EPS) format. This option is only available if you have purchased the BARR/PRINT to EPS module.
When you finish configuring the port, click OK. This adds the printer and returns you to the Printer Properties dialog box so you can configure the spool printer.
If you are writing to a TCP/IP socket and set the output format to Barr archive when you configure the Barr IP port, you can setup overlays (optional). All necessary overlays and FCB resources must be available on the receiving BARR/SPOOL.
Click Advanced to configure advanced printer settings. The Advanced Printer Options dialog box displays. Review the following table to select the required and desired options.
When printing to a Xerox EPS, verify EBCDIC code page 37 -- English (U.S./Canada) is selected.

Close the Configuration Utility.
