The SpoolCore service will not start

Cause: By default, the installation sets the Print Utility service to start automatically. The Print Utility service will start the SpoolCore service. Once you change the SpoolCore service to start automatically, the Spool Window in some systems will stop responding unless the Print Utility service is set to start manually. Starting the Print Utility service manually is not desirable in most situations because manual intervention would be required for automatic spooling.

Solution: Complete the following steps.

  1. Make sure the Print Utility service is set to start manually.

  2. From Print Utility's Automatic Spooling tab, disable each of the automatic spooling folders by clearing the Enabled check box.

  3. From the Services utility, set the Print Utility service to start automatically and SpoolCore service to start manually.

  4. Restart your computer.

  5. From the Print Utility's Automatic Spooling tab, enable each of the automatic spooling folders by selecting the Enabled check box.

  6. Click OK twice. The Spool Window will now open properly and both services will start automatically each time you restart the computer.

Unable to stop or restart the SpoolCore service

Cause: You might not have the appropriate rights to manage the SpoolCore service from the Spool Window.

Solution: Have an administrator assign you access rights to stop the SpoolCore service from the Spool Window. Members of the Administrators group who do not have the necessary Barr access rights to manage the SpoolCore service from the Spool Window, can manually stop the service from the Services utility.

The NJE service will not start

Cause: An incorrect user name and password might have been used during installation or the service has not been configured as a user account.

Solution: Verify the Barr service is configured to log on as a user account and that the domain, account, and password values are correct.

The service failed while logging on

Cause: An incorrect user name and password was entered during installation.

Solution: Verify the Barr service is configured to log on as a user account and that the domain, account, and password values are correct.
