Redirecting print files (SYSOUT) to the host

BARR/NJE

If you followed the BARR/NJE configuration steps, you have configured the host and the software to receive jobs from the host to BARR/NJE. You can also configure NJE to send job and print data sets to the host. For example, if you received data from the host and then your printer went down, you could use this procedure to send the data back to the host to be printed elsewhere.

Follow these steps to send a print files (SYSOUT) to the host. You will need to define a routing table, configure a spool printer to send the data, and configure the Spool Window to release the job to the host.

If you have already configured NJE for sending files (JCL SYSIN) to the host, you have completed the configuration and can proceed to step 5. Use the remaining steps to verify that the Spool Window settings are correct.

If you are using a CTC connection with VSE/POWER An S/390 operating systems program that simultaneously operates many readers, printers, and remote communications devices., you cannot upload files to the host. This is an invalid operation and will display error 0xEFF in the State field of the Spool Window.

  1. Define a routing table.

  2. Configure a spool printer to send jobs to the host.

  3. Open the Spool Window.

  4. If the Dest. node column is not displayed, add it to the Spool Window. This field, NDHGNODE (Dest. node), is contained in the Data Set Header General Section.

  5. Disable the spool printer.

  6. Double-click the Dest. node column for your printer, and enter your host’s NJE node. This value is entered as the host node when you define a routing table.

  7. To print the document, set the document and printer criteria to match in the Spool Window, and change their states to Ready. The document will display a Printing state. After printing, the job will disappear. Check your host's output queues for the job.
