Use the following tips and examples to route spool documents to printers from the spool view. These examples require editing the printer attribute columns and matching the entry in the header fields. Matching the document attributes to the printer attributes can be performed by modifying the document attribute column in the window.
Use the less than (<), greater than (>), and equal (=) operands to route documents. You can route documents less than, greater than, or within a specified range of the values entered in the printer attribute columns. These operands can be used with numbers and letters for all editable printer attributes. For example, if you want a printer to accept documents ranging from 200 to 500 bytes with a class less than H, enter >=200 and <=500 in the printer Size column and <H in the printer Class column. If you leave the printer attribute blank or only enter >, all documents will route to that printer. If you only enter <, no documents will route to the printer.
The following rules apply to specifying a range for routing documents.
The first character must be > or <, and the second operand must be the opposite sign (for example, <=value1 and >value2).
The word "and" is case insensitive.
The = operand (if used) must follow an inequality sign with no spaces in between.
For one-character fields such as Class, you can enter multiple characters for the printer routing criteria. All documents that match any of the criteria will route to that printer. For example, if you type ABC in the printer class field, all documents with a class of A, B, or C will route to it.
By default, blank printer fields act as wild cards, automatically accepting documents with field characters or blank fields.
