Use this dialog box to add or modify IPDS connections. You can access this dialog box by selecting Connection | Add or Modify on the menu bar or by right-clicking a connection and selecting Modify.
You must be a member of the local Administrators group to add or modify connections.
Click an option you want to learn more about.
Name – Displays as the connection name in the BARR/PRINT390 for IPDS window. This is a required field.
Startup – Determines if the connection will start manually or automatically.
You must be a member of the local Administrators group to start connections. If the operator is not a member of the local Administrators group, select Automatic so the connection will start automatically with Windows startup.
Manual – Requires you to start the connection manually from the BARR/PRINT390 for IPDS window. This option is selected by default.
Automatic – Starts the connection automatically with Windows startup.
IPDS connection configuration differs depending on the type of host connection you will be using. If you have purchased BARR/PRINT390 for IPDS over SNA, the SNA options will be available. If you have purchased BARR/PRINT390 for IPDS over IP, the IP options will be available.
IP attached – Connects the host with an IP connection.
IP port number – If you are using an IP connection, this must match the PORTNO parameter you specified in the PSF host configuration. The default value is 5001.
SNA attached – Connects the host with the SNA gateway. This option is selected by default.
Local LU name – If you are using an SNA connection, this must match the Local LU name in the SNA gateway configuration. The default value is BARRLU01.
Adapter – Displays the adapter associated with the connection. Supports up to four adapters.
Channel address – The channel address of the printer you are adding. You can get this hexadecimal number from your host systems programmer. The default address is 1E. This is a required field.
